CARPET CLEANING

  • What method do you use for cleaning?

The method we use for cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning.  The Rotovac Powerwand’s exclusive hot water extraction method removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently.  Hot, soft water and a specially formulated cleaning solution are injected deep within the carpet fibers.  Then, a powerful suction extracts deep-down dirt, allergens, cleaning solution and 95% of the moisture.  It’s the cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers.

  • Do I need to vacuum before the crew arrives?

A light vacuuming in the traffic areas is recommended but not required.  If needed, the crew can pre-vacuum the area to be cleaned.  Also, the equipment is vacuuming the entire time we are cleaning.

  • What do you consider as an area?

Typically, an area is a room that is up to 300 square feet (that is 15 x 20 or approximately the size of a two-car garage). Living room/dining room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 300 square feet but less than 600 square feet is priced as two areas. Non-standard areas (baths, halls, landings, walk-in-closets, etc.) are priced separately from the standard areas, usually at a lesser price. Please know that these room sizes may vary by location.

  • How long will it take to clean my carpets?

On average, it will take approximately 20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on the amount of furniture to be moved, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

  • Do you move furniture?

Our crews are professionally trained to move your furniture, and return it to its rightful place when cleaning is completed. There are several items we recommend not moving, such as: pianos, electronics, china cabinets, waterbeds, some large beds, dressers with mirrors, etc. We do suggest you remove items off of your furniture like plants, lamps and knick knacks. If you would like, you may email (greenfloorclean@gmail.com) or call 843-693-3813. The customer service advisor will be able to answer any technical questions you might have as well as provide a cost estimate. Thank you for your inquiry and interest in Green Floor Clean. Please feel free to contact us once again if you need further assistance.

  • How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

Dry time is affected by humidity, temperature and air flow to the area. It can take anywhere between 8-24 hours for the carpet to completely dry, depending on the aforementioned variables. Using fans in any rooms cleaned and turning your air conditioning or heating system on, depending on the time of year, can help accelerate drying time. Be sure to leave the protective blocks under furniture legs and any paper used with upholstered items in place until the carpet and/or furniture is completely dry to avoid any color transfer. You may walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning, but avoid wearing street shoes, as they may re-soil your carpet. We suggest wearing clean rubber soled shoes. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.

  • I have heard that cleaning my carpet makes it soil faster. Is this true?

The problem results from residues being left in the carpet which attract dirt. Usually this is caused by the use of soap in the cleaning process that hasn’t been rinsed out completely. Our specially formulated solution and hot water extraction cleaning process leaves little to no residue behind to attract dirt.

  • I have had my carpet cleaned, but the spots have reappeared. What should I do?

Although most spots that are removed from carpet do not reappear, some substances in carpet backing may wick to the surface after cleaning. If this happens, please contact us at 843-693-3813 as soon as possible.

  • Do you guarantee removal of all spots or stains in the carpet?

We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor the carpet fibers. The age of the carpet and the type of carpet fibers also plays a factor in this. The technician will try to determine if this is the case prior to cleaning but they are not always able to determine this before trying to remove the spots.

  • After my carpet was cleaned, it has bubbles or ripples in the carpet. What caused this?

As the carpet dries, these bubbles or ripples should start to lay flat again. Once it is dry they should be virtually unnoticeable. This is usually a sign that the carpet was in need of restretching prior to the cleaning. If these ripples do not go away after it is completely dry, please contact 843-693-3813 as soon as possible.

  • Will carpet cleaning get rid of fleas in my carpet?

We cannot guarantee that the cleaning will get rid of all the fleas. We usually recommend that the customer kill the adult fleas first by whichever method they prefer, this is something that a professional exterminator might be able to help with. Please keep in mind that the carpet is not the only place fleas will lay eggs, you might consider having your upholstery treated and cleaned as well as any area rugs or pet beds.

  • Why do your prices vary from other carpet cleaners?

When comparing prices, make sure you ask a lot of questions and please keep a few things in mind. Our price includes treating for spots, moving furniture, and a 10-day satisfaction policy. There are no hidden fees or additional charges. Also, we never sub-contact, so our technicians are always background checked, drug tested and properly trained employees. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work.

  • How do you guarantee customer satisfaction?

We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise. In some cases this can mean spot cleaning specific areas of concern or even completely re-cleaning the area in question. In the end, we’re not satisfied until you are.

CARPET PROTECTION

  • Why should I have a protector applied to my cleaned carpets?

As the finishing touch to your thoroughly cleaned carpet and/or upholstery, specially formulated protector can be professionally applied. These products help carpet and upholstery resist soiling from dry dirt, water- and oil-based spills by wrapping each fiber in a protective coating. This extra layer gives you more time to clean up spots and spills before they soak into the fibers, helping you keep your carpet and upholstery looking its best between professional cleanings. Plus, it makes vacuuming and cleaning up spots easier.

  • Does carpet come with a protector?

A dry soil protector comes on most carpet from the manufacturers. This is a wear dated product and is removed over time with every day traffic. Carpet manufacturers recommend that you have this protector reapplied about once a year, and perhaps more often on heavy traffic areas.

  • How does your deodorizer work to remove odors?

Triple Action Enzyme Spotter uses a natural multi-enzyme action to remove organic odor sources such as urine, vomit, food, feces, pet stains, milk, wine and coffee stains. This product removes organic odors that it contacts. It also uses a neutralizer to give immediate relief from any odors while the enzyme is working. The key to complete removal of an odor is that this product must reach all contaminated surfaces. If the odor causing source has penetrated the backing and possibly the padding we cannot guarantee complete removal of the odor.

DUSTLESS RESURFACE AKA HARDWOOD CLEANING

How do you resurface hardwood floors?

Regular mopping just doesn’t reach the stubborn dirt that lies deep in the pores of your hardwood, but our cleaning process does. This process includes a sanding of the existing finish (180 or 220 grit sanding disc) of the areas to remove any loose dirt and debris, and a scrubbing (320 grit maroon pad) with an alkaline cleaner and then mopping with clean water to condition and prepare the wood to accept polyurethane.  Each coat usually dries in less than 3 hours and is ready for light use.  Furniture can be replaced 12 hours after floor is dry.

  • Do you offer any kind of sealant to protect the floor after cleaning?

Yes, we offer two types of sealant:

Bona Mega

Clean and Maintaining your hardwood floors with a combination of our deep cleaning and an application of water-based polyurethane.  First, we remove dirt and debris with our cleaning process, and then we'll coat your floors with two coats of water-based polyurethane.  Our fast drying polyurethane will leave your floors with a uniform, overall sheen. When choosing gloss sheen the manufacturer recommends three coats (additional cost).

Loba EasyFinish

Clean and protect your floor with Loba technology. Rated for light commercial and high traffic domestic areas.  Suitable for wood and cork floors.  After our deep cleaning process, we will coat your floor with an even layer of our polyurethane-acrylate formula, creating a barrier against water and chemical damage. In addition to helping your hardwood resist scratching and scuffing, it will leave your floor with a consistent shine. Keep your floor protected and looking good longer.

  • What is resurfacing?

Resurfacing is our proprietary system that gently sands light scratches, scuffs, ground in dirt and dullness away.

It does NOT affect the color (other than brightening) and does NOT sand away precious wood. It can be used

on all types of wood flooring and is the most cost effective flooring service we offer. Most projects can be completed in hours, rather than days.

  • What is refinishing?

Refinishing means sanding your floors down to bare wood, re-staining (your choice of color) and applying polyurethane.

This is the method most are familiar with; it takes 2 to 4 days and provides the homeowner with a finish that is as close to perfection as humanly possible.

  • I have a few really deep scratches, which service do I need?

Well, that's a personal thing (that's not much help). I will guide you with pros and cons of each method, I'm not going to sell you a service that will not deliver what you want.  A deep scratch here and there may not be a bad thing. Huh? Some folks call it character, some turn it into a story, some simply don't see the "value added"

with the added expense of removing the deep scars. If you have heavy pets, or small children, then removing ALL scratches may very well be a temporary thing.  Maybe resurfacing is the right direction, maybe all you need to do is to protect your long term investment. . .

Give me a call, I'll help you with this. I will NOT push you into a service that gives you a negative return. I promise!

  • And? Hey, what do I use to clean it?

Oh yeah, I forgot that minor detail. . . White Vinegar and water (1 pt vinegar to 4 pt water). Fix yourself a spray bottle for the little, everyday deals and a bucket

for the monumental days. After you're sure its clean, wipe it dry, completely dry, dry as a bone dry. Then, dry it again. DO NOT use anything containing ammonia,

pet urine has ammonia and if you clean with the same stuff, they'll think that's the place to go. You know, go and go and go.

  • Dustless, really?

For resurfacing, this process creates very little dust; equipment mounted vacuums pull the lions share of the dust, what remains is a very light coating of dust on the floor.

No airborne dust is generated, none. The remaining dust on the floor is vacuumed up, then the surface is cleaned with tack rags.

  • What about the smell?

For resurfacing, we use only waterborne products that are "Greenguard" certified. The only smell is a very light, pleasant aroma.

Oil Based products have higher Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and that is where the smell is generated.

  • So tell me about this GreenGuard thing.

This was taken from GreenGuard's website, they can say it far better than I: The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute, part of UL Environment, was founded in 2001 with the mission of protecting human health and quality of life by improving indoor air quality and reducing chemical exposure. The GREENGUARD Certification Program helps manufacturers create--and helps buyers identify--interior products and materials that have low chemical emissions, improving the quality of the air in which the products are used. UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories), acquired GREENGUARD in 2011, further advancing its mission of promoting global sustainability, environmental health, and safety.
